The Board of Trustees of the Pasadena Area Community College District issued a statement Tuesday, December 3 which may lead to the reinstatement of the winter sessions.
The Public Employment Relations Board issued last month a ruling that the District did unfair labor practice by implementing a trimester calendar, but the college district trustees, upon reviewing the ruling, refuted the decision, the PCC Courier reported.
“The PACCD expresses its strong disagreement with the proposed decision as wrongly decided and insupportable,†the newspaper cited the statement. “The District believes the proposed decision ignores well-established legal precedent and misconstrues the facts of the case.â€
The Pasadena City College Board of Trustees unanimously voted to cancel the winter sessions last July, drawing outrage and protests from several students.
Winter classes were held in PCC for the previous years to help students get the required credits they will be needing to transfer to four-year universities.
However, the Pasadena City College Faculty Association claimed the implementation of a trimester calendar is a violation of the labor rights law, the PCC Courier reported.
