Danny Parker, chair of the Reconnecting Pasadena 710 Advisory Group, will address commissioners at 6:30 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Community Center, at 1020 North Fair Oaks Avenue.
The presentation marks the commission’s first formal update on the long-debated freeway stub redevelopment since the project gained renewed attention last fall.
Commissioner Sandy Greenstein attended a November meeting hosted by Councilmember Steve Madison on the 710 stub. She noted community engagement on social justice aspects and identified a potential role for the commission.
The project aims to transform the unfinished freeway corridor that has divided neighborhoods for decades.
Also on the agenda is a discussion on details for the Human Relations Trailblazer Award. The commission previously voted to recognize Nikki High, Ali Shirmohammadi and Altadena Girls with the honor.
Recipients will receive their awards at a City Council meeting in March or April, pending confirmation.
The commission will also consider approving a special meeting date for June 2026 due to Election Day.
Pasadena Police Sergeant Jacob Carey will provide the monthly update on hate crimes and incidents in the city.
The commission continues to track hate incident data by demographic group and location. Vice Chair Katie Young has been categorizing each incident to identify which communities are most impacted.
Public comment will be accepted in person or through written correspondence submitted to jconcul@cityofpasadena.net at least 30 minutes before the meeting starts.
