South Pasadena residents are streaming in with gently used treasures for a massive community yard sale fundraiser scheduled for Friday and Saturday, November 8-9. The two-day event at the War Memorial Building aims to support the construction and decoration of “Seas the Day,” South Pasadena’s entry for the 136th Rose Parade on January 1, 2025.
Organizers with the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee said that this fundraiser is crucial to preserving the city’s unique tradition in the internationally recognized parade.
From Tuesday, November 5 through Thursday, November 7, residents can drop off donations each evening from 4 to 8 p.m. at the War Memorial Building, 435 Fair Oaks Avenue in South Pasadena, with tax-deductible receipts available for contributors.
The fundraiser welcomes a diverse array of items, including collectibles, jewelry, electronics, furniture, clothing, kitchenware, and holiday décor.
Sale hours run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday at the War Memorial Building.
The timing of the sale carries special significance: the float structure recently passed its first technical inspection on October 18.
Shoppers will have the unique opportunity to view the float’s construction taking shape just steps from where they hunt for bargains in the War Memorial Building.
This yard sale represents one component of broader fundraising efforts by the committee, which includes ongoing See’s Candy sales and a raffle for Rose Bowl Game tickets. The organization continues to seek additional construction volunteers for the float project.
The South Pasadena Tournament of Roses Committee, which holds monthly meetings, coordinates these various initiatives to ensure the city’s continued participation in the internationally recognized parade.
