One lane of northbound Sierra Madre Villa Boulevard was shut down on Monday, May 10 near Sierra Madre Boulevard, the first day of a construction project that the City of Pasadena says will last about a month.
The closure runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, squeezing northbound traffic on a stretch of road that feeds into the Hastings Ranch area of East Pasadena and passes near the Sierra Madre Villa Metro A Line station. The city announced the lane reduction on its official Facebook page but did not identify the specific construction project or the contractor performing the work.
The intersection with Sierra Madre Boulevard sits in an area where the city has multiple active infrastructure projects, including the Sierra Madre Median Enhancement Project — a stormwater capture and urban greening effort on Sierra Madre Boulevard between Michillinda Avenue and Washington Boulevard with a completion target of September 2026, according to the Los Angeles County Safe, Clean Water Program.
Drivers heading north on Sierra Madre Villa Boulevard during the closure hours should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes. The lane is expected to reopen by mid-June.
