Residents should prepare for a sharp temperature decline as a cooling system moves into the area this weekend, with Sunday’s high expected to fall 10 degrees below early May norms, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The cooling pattern begins as Friday’s high of 74 degrees gradually diminishes to just 65 degrees by Sunday, marking a significant departure from seasonal averages.

Friday’s weather starts with a foggy, cloudy morning before clearing to mostly sunny skies with light southwest winds between 5 and 10 mph. Evening brings increasing cloud cover and overnight lows near 54 degrees.

Saturday’s forecast includes patchy morning drizzle before 11 a.m. with mostly cloudy conditions persisting throughout the day. High temperatures will reach about 69 degrees with variable morning winds shifting to southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

The system intensifies Sunday with a 30% chance of morning showers, primarily before 11 a.m. Wind patterns will shift from southeast to southwest at 5 to 15 mph with potential gusts up to 20 mph. Forecasters expect minimal rainfall amounts in Pasadena.

Any measurable precipitation will likely be less than a tenth of an inch in Pasadena, with more significant amounts reserved for mountain areas, according to the NWS.

While Pasadena will experience moderate winds, coastal areas throughout Southern California face more significant conditions with southwest to northwest gusts between 25 and 45 mph.

The cool spell won’t last long. Temperatures begin climbing by mid-week with Wednesday bringing mostly sunny conditions and highs near 75 degrees. By Thursday, the mercury should reach 81 degrees under sunny skies.

No weather advisories have been issued specifically for Pasadena, though residents should be aware of potentially slick roads during periods of drizzle or light showers, particularly Sunday morning.
