The National Weather Service has issued a warning for the first significant Santa Ana wind event of the season, which is expected to bring critical fire weather conditions to wind-prone areas of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from late Saturday night into Monday evening.
The onset of the Santa Ana winds will cause rapid drying in the region, with widespread single-digit humidities predicted from Sunday into Monday. The strongest winds are expected on Sunday, with common gusts of 35 to 50 mph and isolated gusts up to 60 mph likely in favored mountain and foothill locations.
