The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, in collaboration with the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, will unveil two refurbished baseball fields Saturday, May 17, at Loma Alta Park, as the first park in Altadena affected by the recent Eaton Fire reopens.

The $400,000 project delivers Dodgers Dreamfields 66 and 67, creating safe recreational spaces for children ages 5-12 in an area where the fire forced the park’s closure.

“To partner on the reopening of the first park after the devastating Eaton Fire is an honor for us at the Dodgers Foundation,” said Nichol Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. “We’re not just building fields — we’re helping to restore a space where joy, connection, and community can flourish once again…”

The May 17 ceremony will begin at noon today and feature remarks from Whiteman, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Director of Los Angeles County Parks Norma E. García-González, Play Equity Fund President Renata Simril, and additional partners and sponsors.

Dodgers pitcher Evan Phillips and team host Kirsten Watson will attend as special guests.

Following the unveiling, the Dodgers Training Academy will conduct a skills clinic for Central Altadena Little League, County North baseball and softball players, and community members.

The reimagined park will offer multi-generational programming and essential services for families returning to Altadena and serve as a gathering place for neighbors temporarily displaced across Los Angeles County and beyond. Improvements include new playing surfaces and grass, enclosed fields, upgraded fencing and an LED scoreboard resembling Dodger Stadium.

“We’re grateful to the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation for its rapid response and support in transforming the Loma Alta Park baseball fields into Dodgers Dreamfields, reinforcing the park’s place as a symbol of resilience and renewal for this community…” said Norma E. García-González, director of Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.

Renata Simril, President of the Play Equity Fund, one of the project’s sponsors, said: “This is a proud moment for the Play Equity Fund as we join with our longtime partners at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation in support of youth and families in Altadena. Loma Alta Park will once again be full of the sounds of children playing and families enjoying themselves in a welcoming space where they can reclaim joy and heal through play.”

“UCLA Health is honored to work with Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to support the ongoing recovery efforts following the catastrophic wildfires that swept through Los Angeles earlier this year,” said Johnese Spisso, President, UCLA Health and CEO, UCLA Hospital System.

Additional project sponsors include the Helen and Will Webster Foundation, and the Los Angeles County Parks Foundation.

Altadena parks have long been the heart of tight-knit, diverse communities, providing programs and recreation for people of all ages. The foundation has invested over $21 million to refurbish 67 Dodgers Dreamfields since 2003, providing access to baseball and softball fields for more than 1.8 million youth and families in underserved communities.

The organization aims to complete 75 fields by 2033 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Dodgers’ move to Los Angeles in 1958.
