Pasadena domestic violence resource center Shepherd’s Door is organizing a fundraiser at Twohey’s Restaurant on Wednesday, Oct. 2 to support its mission and services. The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., will raise funds for the organization’s various programs.
Participants can contribute by dining at Twohey’s Restaurant, located at 424 Fair Oaks Avenue, in South Pasadena, during the specified hours. Fifteen percent of the net proceeds from food and alcohol sales will be donated to Shepherd’s Door, according to the event flyer.
Founded in March 2000 by Linda Offray, Shepherd’s Door offers a range of services to assist victims of domestic violence. These include counseling, support groups, financial literacy workshops, legal assistance, healing art workshops, and education workshops for youth on healthy relationships.
The organization’s mission statement emphasizes its goal: “To break the cycle of domestic violence through relationship education, financial literacy, youth violence prevention education, group support, and direct rescue intervention.”
Longtime local Twohey’s Restaurant regularly partners with nonprofit organizations through its “DINE OUT” program. This initiative allows groups to raise funds by encouraging supporters to dine at the restaurant on designated days.
To participate in the fundraiser, diners must present a flyer or show an image of it on their phone when ordering. This ensures that their purchase will be counted towards the donation total.
Those interested in participating or seeking more information can contact Shepherd’s Door at (626) 765-9967, or email sd@shepherddoor.org.
Shepherd’s Door offers additional services beyond direct victim support, including youth education programs aimed at preventing domestic violence and transportation assistance through TAP cards. The organization also provides referrals for housing, healthcare, and other essential services.
For those unable to attend the fundraiser, Shepherd’s Door accepts donations through other means. Interested parties can mail checks to the organization’s P.O. box or contact them directly to arrange contributions.
