A 76-year-old Los Angeles man died Friday after his vehicle overturned in a collision on Avenue 64, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sam De Sylva.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:43 p.m. on May 22 in the 300 block of Avenue 64, De Sylva said. The man’s vehicle struck a parked car before overturning. No one was inside the parked vehicle at the time.
Responding officers found the driver conscious and wearing a seat belt, with what appeared to be minor abrasions, De Sylva said. Paramedics later observed swelling in the man’s abdomen, and he went into cardiac arrest shortly afterward. He was transported to Huntington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
De Sylva noted the victim had “numerous pre-existing medical conditions.” The Pasadena Police Department’s traffic section, along with the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, will investigate the incident, De Sylva said.
The victim’s name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. De Sylva confirmed that no other passengers were in the vehicle and that there were witnesses to the crash, though details have not yet been made public.
