An early morning vegetation fire near the Jet Propulsion Laboratory was quickly knocked down on Friday, according to Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian, who said a preliminary report indicated the blaze “was from homeless encampment not fireworks.”
The fire, which was knocked down around 2:20 a.m., was a quarter-acre brush fire located in Devil’s Gate Reservoir.
The Pasadena Fire Department worked in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to quickly extinguish the slow-moving fire in the difficult-to-access terrain, Derderian said.
The fire was successfully contained with no structures threatened. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
