Fire Contained During Small Residential Blaze on South Oak Knoll Avenue

Pasadena firefighters extinguished a small room?and?contents fire early Wednesday at a residential building on South Oak Knoll Avenue, according to a statement from Pasadena Fire and the city’s chief communications officer.

Crews were dispatched at 2:23 a.m. to a unit in the 200 block of  S. Oak Knoll Ave.,  where the fire was found contained to the unit of origin. The incident was declared closed at 3:39 a.m., after Pasadena Fire units completed checks for any extension into surrounding areas.

Lisa Derderian, the City of Pasadena’s Chief Communications Officer, said the building was temporarily evacuated while firefighters ensured the blaze had not spread.

Derderian reported no injuries and confirmed the resident of the affected unit was not home when the fire started. The cause remains under investigation.

Five engines, a rescue ambulance and two trucks were assigned, according to Pasadena Fire’s incident log.
