A kitchen fire damaged a home in the 800 block of North Mentor Avenue in Pasadena early Friday morning but was quickly extinguished by firefighters with no injuries reported.
The blaze was reported at approximately 6:49 a.m. when a neighbor called authorities after noticing smoke coming from the residence in the 800 block of North Mentor Ave., according to Pasadena Fire Department officials.
Pasadena Fire Department responded with multiple units, including several engines, trucks, and rescue personnel. Firefighters discovered smoke within the raised foundation under the house.
The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes and contained the fire to the kitchen area, said Lisa Derderian, Public Information Officer for the City of Pasadena. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar reported that officers blocked Mentor Avenue north of Boylston Street and south of Mountain Street to allow emergency vehicles access to the scene. Traffic in the immediate area was impacted during the response.
According to Cuellar, no one was home at the time of the fire.
As of mid-morning, the fire was out but both fire and police personnel remained at the location.
