In keeping with our Lenten Theme of making room in our lives for added times of devotion, the congregation is invited to attend the Tuesday Night Prayer Gathering. Each week the Gathering will open with a short time of singing and prayer. Participants will have an opportunity to choose one of three groups: one that will focus on praying for the needs of individuals; a second that will begin with a celebration of Communion (traditional liturgy) followed by a Lenten Bible Study; and a third which will celebrate Communion using the “One Another Communion Liturgy†and a time of discussion and prayer focusing on the spiritual growth of our congregation and our individual call to the service of others.
Beginning Tuesday February 19th, there are five Tuesday’s nights in Lent (not counting Holy Week). The congregation is invited to attend as many Tuesday Night Lenten Prayer Gatherings as their schedules permit. The Prayer Gathering meets in the sanctuary beginning at 7:15 p.m. and groups conclude at 8:30 PM.
Lent is indeed about deepening our relationship with Christ, yet it is also about deepening our relationship in Christ with each other. As we temporarily give up a regular habit or activity, we are creating room to be quiet before the Lord and to hear his presence “speaking†in our hearts as individuals. By taking on a service or attending Lenten time of devotion, we are making room for Christ to live out his love for others in us. At this time in the life of our congregation, both of these are of vital importance.
