The City of Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Department will be joined by three other housing agencies at the Jackie Robinson Community Center on Friday, Aug. 28, the first time the RSD’s neighborhood drop-in counseling series has brought multiple housing providers together in one location.
Friends In Deed, the Housing Rights Center and the city’s Department of Housing will take part, according to a city news release. It is the fourth Chats & Snacks event since the series began in February.
Rent Stabilization staff will answer questions on rent stabilization laws, tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities, rent increases, petitions, rental registration and other rental housing matters.
The Department of Housing will cover affordable housing, rental assistance, Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) services, and other city programs.
The Housing Rights Center will offer free landlord-tenant and fair housing counseling, including discrimination concerns and disability-related reasonable accommodations.
Friends In Deed will bring resources for individuals and families facing financial hardship, housing instability or homelessness, including food assistance.
Brief presentations will open the event, followed by one-on-one conversations.
“What started as a way to bring Housing Counselors directly into the community is evolving into an opportunity to connect residents with an even broader range of housing resources,” said Helen Morales, director of the Rent Stabilization Department.
Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor is set to take place Friday, Aug. 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave. It is free and open to the public; no registration or appointment is required. Coffee and snacks will be provided, and RSD Housing Counselors will assist in both English and Spanish. Drop-ins are welcome any time, and those who want to hear the presentations are encouraged to arrive at the beginning.
