Monsterpalooza, the multi-genre convention focusing on the art of monsters and movie magic, happens this weekend again at the Pasadena Convention Center, Friday to Sunday, April 7 to 9.
The annual spring event that started in 2009 features a museum which displays screen-used props, masks, life-size figures and movie creatures from participating Hollywood FX studios and artists. Monsterpalooza features workshops on the craft of horror movie-making, makeup demonstrations and creature effects.
Each Monsterpalooza event features dozens of special celebrity guests from the world of horror, science fiction, and fantasy. In past episodes, guests have included actors from film franchises such as “Alien,” “Fright Night,” “An American Werewolf in London,” “Godzilla,” “Ed Wood,” “Night of the Living Dead,” “Superman” and many more.
This year’s celebrity guests will include Robert Englund, who played Freddie Kruger in the “Nightmare on Elm Street” series; Heather Langenkamp, who played Nancy Thompson in the same series; Kane Hodder, who played Jason Voorhees in four films of the “Friday the 13th” series; Cassandra Peterson, who played Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and more than 70 other celebrity horror and science fiction movie actors and actresses, producers, and make-up and special effects artists.
The event will also feature award winning masterminds behind some of the greatest creatures ever created for feature films, television and the haunt industry, with over 250 exhibitors selling one of a kind creations out of the movies.
The famous Monsterpalooza Museum will feature full-sized creatures, hyper-realistic sculptures, screen used props and animatronics from your favorite films as well as debuts of new creations from the world’s best special effects studios.
Monsterpalooza is a fan-friendly event that introduces attendees every year to new eye popping exhibits, creators and innovators, products, art and collectibles.
Tickets are $30 per day, $35 at the door, and $70 for a three-day ticket.
