Free New Year’s Eve Rides on Metro and Foothill Bus Lines: Here Are All the Holiday Bus Line Schedules

Here’s a guide for bus commuters about the schedules for New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Rose Parade day among all three providers serving Pasadena:

Pasadena Transit

On New Year’s Eve, Pasadena Transit will be following the regular Saturday schedule, with service beginning around 10 a.m. on most routes.

Pasadena Transit will have no service on New Year’s Day. 

On Monday, Jan. 2, Pasadena Transit will go into service around 1 p.m., after Rose Parade impacts have cleared. Visit www.pasadenatransit.net for more information.

Metro

Metro, or the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, will offer free service on all Metro-operated bus and rail lines on New Year’s Eve to help everyone travel safely during the holidays. 

Free New Year’s Eve rides are an annual Metro tradition during the holiday season. On Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, no fares will be collected starting at 9 p.m. through Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 2 a.m.

Metro will run on a Sunday/holiday service schedule on Jan. 1 and 2.  

On Monday, Jan. 2, after the Rose Parade ends, Metro will provide shuttle services from Sierra Madre Villa L Line (Gold) Station to the post-parade viewing area. Shuttle buses will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Floats will also be available for viewing on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Metro will operate shuttle service from Sierra Madre Villa Station to post-parade float viewings at Victory Park starting at 7 a.m. Shuttle buses will end service 5 p.m. that day.

Foothill Transit

On New Year’s Eve, all Foothill Transit rides are free.

Foothill Transit will operate according to their Weekend Schedule on New Year’s Day. 

“Happy New Year! We want to help you get home safely. So we’re offering FREE fares for New Year’s Eve,” Foothill Transit said on their Facebook page. “Bus rides will be completely free from 9 p.m. on December 31 until 2 a.m. on January 1.”

On Monday, Jan. 2, Foothill Transit Line 187 will detour in the Rose Parade area until the streets reopen.
