Fuller Students Take Second Place on Game Show

Three Fuller Theological Seminary students took second place on bible trivia game show “The American Bible Challenge,” and won a total of $30,000 for anti-trafficking organization Oasis.

The students — Sam Altis and Drew Vinson from Fuller’s School of Theology and Matthew Blanton from the School of Intercultural Studies – made their way through to the finals of the popular Game Show Network program hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy.

The first season of the show began with 18 teams from around the country. The Fuller team, “The Boys Next Door,” won $20,000 in the first round and earned a spot in the show’s semi-finals. The team took second in the semi-finals and another $5,000 prize. In a surprise “wild card” round, Altis, Vinson and Blanton were able to snag a spot in the finals.

In the intense finale that aired on October 18, the team lost to Team Judson’s Legacy from Orange County, but the second place spot brought their total winnings to $30,000.

“We are so honored that the team from Fuller chose Oasis as their charity, and of course thrilled that they did so well!” said Joel Griffith, executive director of Oasis USA, which is located in Pasadena, CA. “The additional funds are coming at a crucial time for us, enabling us to roll out more programs nationwide to end trafficking one community at a time.”

The show has been picked up for another season and the Game Show Network has already issued a casting call. Teams of three can sign up to audition for the show on the GSN website.
