Hahamongna Nursery and PWP to Promote California Native Plants with Monthly ‘Native Nights’ Series of Workshops

The Arroyo Seco Foundation (ASF), a century-old non-profit based in  Pasadena, in partnership with the Pasadena Water and Power, is hosting a Native Nights Series this summer at Pasadena’s Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery.  

This monthly series features workshops and presentations about California’s native plants,  nurturing biodiversity, and their importance to our local ecology. The first workshop in the series is at 7 pm on Tuesday, June 27, and features a presentation on Building Soil Health for  Native Plants. Each event is free and open to the public.  

The inaugural workshop in the series will be led by landscape architect and arborist Shawn  Maestretti, and by eco-sensitive designer and educator Leigh Adams. The event will be held outdoors on the beautiful grounds of the Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery.  

ASF manages and operates the popular Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery, which is one of the largest propagators and sellers of native plants in the Los Angeles area. The nursery is located within the Arroyo Seco watershed, in the northwest corner of Pasadena’s Hahamongna  Watershed Park.  

This community-based nursery provides native plants for habitat restoration projects, and to beautify residential yards, businesses, and public facilities. Native plants are important to soil health, beneficial to our ecosystems, and an essential component of our water conservation efforts.
