Heat Wave Breaks Monday as Temperatures to Drop Nearly 20 Degrees

Published on Sunday, May 11, 2025 | 6:21 am

National Weather Service forecasters said Pasadena will enjoy relief from near-record summer-like conditions starting Monday, with temperatures dropping from the weekend’s 90s to the low 70s as a cooling trend takes hold across the region.

Today, Pasadena will see mostly sunny skies with temperatures climbing to near 91 degrees. Winds will remain light and variable through the morning before shifting to south southwest at 5 to 10 mph during the afternoon hours.

The cooling trend begins tonight as increasing clouds move into the area and temperatures fall to around 57 degrees. South southeast winds around 5 mph will persist through the overnight hours. Monday morning will bring patchy fog before 11 a.m., with cloudy conditions gradually giving way to mostly sunny skies and a much cooler high temperature near 72 degrees.

Monday night through Tuesday morning will introduce patchy drizzle to the Pasadena area after 11 p.m., continuing until about 11 a.m. Tuesday. Overnight lows will drop to around 52 degrees with south southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph and occasional gusts reaching 15 mph.

Temperatures throughout the week will remain relatively stable after Monday’s dramatic drop, with daily highs hovering in the upper 60s to mid-70s range. Tuesday’s high will reach near 68 degrees before warming slightly to 72 on Wednesday and 74 on Thursday. Overnight lows will remain consistent in the low 50s throughout the forecast period.

While no significant rainfall is expected, patchy light drizzle is forecast for Monday night through Tuesday morning. The precipitation will be very light with no measurable accumulation anticipated.

Wind conditions will remain moderate throughout the week, primarily from the south and southwest directions at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday could see occasional gusts up to 15 mph, but no significant wind events are expected to impact the Pasadena area.

Looking ahead to next weekend, patchy morning fog will be the primary weather feature both Friday and Saturday. Friday will be partly sunny with a high near 72 degrees, while Saturday should be mostly sunny with a slightly cooler high near 69 degrees. Both nights will see mostly cloudy conditions with lows in the low to mid-50s.

The extended forecast suggests temperatures will remain seasonal through next weekend, with no significant weather systems expected to impact the region in the coming days.

As Pasadena transitions from summer-like heat to more moderate spring conditions, residents can expect a comfortable week ahead with consistently pleasant temperatures, occasional morning fog, and generally fair skies following Monday’s cooling trend.
