A hiker was rescued from Eaton Canyon after sustaining a lower extremity injury near the waterfall on Saturday, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.
Pasadena Fire Department personnel, along with units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, responded to the incident near 1750 N. Altadena Drive at approximately 2:38 p.m.
The injured hiker was located by a Pasadena Fire Dept. search team.
Pasadena paramedics and a four-member team from Altadena Search and Rescue treated the injured hiker on scene before using a specialized rescue device known as “the wheel” to transport the patient out of the canyon.
The patient was transferred to a Pasadena Fire Dept. rescue ambulance and taken to a local emergency room for further evaluation and treatment.
No further details about the hiker or the injuries sustained by the hiker were made known.
The operation concluded at 4:39 p.m., approximately three and a half hours after the initial dispatch.
The Pasadena Fire Department reminds hikers to exercise caution when exploring local trails and to be prepared for emergencies by carrying appropriate gear and communication devices.
