A 35-year-old homeless man was attacked with a baseball bat early Thursday morning, according to police.
The unprovoked assault occurred around 2:14 a.m. near the intersection of Pasadena Avenue and Holly Street, Pasadena Police Lieutenant Tim Bundy said.
The suspect appeared to be drunk and, unprovoked, began to strike the victim with a baseball bat, Bundy reported. The victim, who was struck multiple times on his arms and legs, managed to flee on foot and contact police .
Bundy saidt he victim sustained multiple scrapes and bruises from the attack and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, where he is in stable condition.
The suspect, whom the victim recognized as another homeless individual he had previously seen but didn’t know personally, remains at large,
“Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect,” Bundy said.
Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s, wearing a white shirt, blue pants, and a white and black hat.
No witnesses were present during the incident, and no video surveillance of the attack has been identified at this time, Bundy said. The baseball bat used in the assault was not recovered.
