Huntington Health is providing free health counseling and screenings at multiple community locations throughout 2025.

The initiative offers walk-in services with no appointment necessary. Registered nurses conduct the screenings at libraries, community centers and farmers markets across Pasadena and surrounding areas.

Services include blood pressure checks and diabetes risk assessments. Participants also receive one-on-one health guidance and referrals to medical and social support services. Free educational materials are available.

“We believe that access to preventive care should be simple and barrier-free,” said Ruth Pichaj, a registered nurse who manages community outreach at Huntington Health. “These screenings empower individuals to take charge of their health and connect with resources that can make a real difference.”

People seeking diabetes screening should fast for at least two hours before testing.

The program operates at 12 locations. These include the Altadena Library, Jackie Robinson Center and Villa Parke Farmers Market. Other sites are the Altadena Senior Center at Loma Alta Park, Crowell Library and Friends InDeed.

Additional locations include Hastings Branch Library, La Pintoresca Branch Library and Lamanda Branch Library. The Pasadena Senior Center, Santa Catalina Branch Library and Victory Park Farmer’s Market also host screenings.

The health system describes the effort as part of its ongoing commitment to promote wellness. The program focuses on early detection of common health conditions.
