La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent Education Retreats to the Beach

The Board and staff members from LCPC’s acclaimed Parent Education program retreated to Newport Beach the weekend of October 12 -14, 2012 to relax, reflect, and refine their goals for the 2012-2013 school year. The venue was the beautiful beach home of Linda Fults, who annually donates her home for their retreat.

Over a three-day weekend, the women behind the program shared strategies for continuing Parent Education’s mission of both empowering parents through the challenging journey of parenthood, while also building powerful bonds within families and amongst the program’s participants. Returning and new volunteer board members joined staffers on Saturday to discuss how they can best continue to build the 34-year program–both in the classroom and through their selected global outreach programs: Operation Christmas Child, Generosity Water, and International Princess Project.

“The retreat this year was filled with laughter, learning and renewed appreciation for one another,” said instructor Nanette Brown, who has been an LCPC Parent Education teacher for 18 years.” Beloved Tweens & Teens teacher, Cary Horne added, “It’s a blessing to spend the weekend with women who are so committed to making LCPC Parent Education a powerful program!”

Teachers and board members also spent time embracing their 2012-2013 theme, “Divinely Designed,” through devotion and team-bonding exercises designed to strengthen members as individuals and as a group. “What an honor it was to enjoy time with such wonderful, talented and passionate godly women and learn more about the incredible LCPC Parent Education program. I’m grateful to be part of the board,” said new Board Member and Pasadena mom, Jenn Kilewer.

“Once again it was amazing to realize the amount of talent God has rallied around LCPC. It’s exciting to imagine what we can accomplish this year, both for local and global families!” added Director Anne Bierling.

About La Cañada Presbyterian Church

La Cañada Presbyterian Church (LCPC) began in 1948 with 158 members and a vision to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010, the church completed a campus expansion, which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.
