The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is celebrating National Bike Month with a series of promotions and events, including free rides on Bike to Work Day, May 16. The month-long initiative, which began on May 1, seeks to encourage residents to ride bikes and use Metro as part of their daily commute.
As part of the celebration, Metro is offering discounted 30-Day Bike Share passes and Reduced Fare 30-Day passes for just $1.00 throughout May with the promo code BIKEMONTH24. On Bike to Work Day, riders can enjoy free 30-minute Metro Bike Share rides by selecting ‘1-Ride’ at any kiosk, online, or in the Metro Bike Share app and entering the promo code 051624. Rides exceeding 30 minutes will cost $1.75 for each additional half-hour.
Metro Bike Hubs monthly passes will be discounted to $6 (regularly $12) for new and previous members. Interested individuals can register at metro.net/bikehub using the promo code SAVE50MAY. Additionally, Metro has introduced a new bike locker program that allows riders to instantly access lockers for secure bicycle parking. Users can register at BikeLink.org for on-demand electronic locker rental, paying only for the days used.
To further incentivize participation, Metro encourages bike riders to track their trips on ridematch.info for a chance to win prizes such as gift cards and bike-related items from local vendors. More information on Metro’s Bike Month activities and community events can be found at metro.net/bikemonth.
