The Pasadena Branch of the NAACP is undergoing its first leadership change in six years, as Brandon D. Lamar assumes the presidency from longtime leader Allen Edson.
Lamar, a former District 3 City Council Candidate and current Rental Housing Board Vice Chair, defeated opponent Ronald Matthews for the seat in Thursday night’s NAACP elections.
After his victory, Lamar old Pasadena Now he was deeply honored to have been entrusted with the role of Pasadena NAACP President.

It is my hope to merge generations, bridging the wisdom of those who paved the way with the innovation and passion of our youth, to bring transformative solutions that resonate both locally and beyond. It is my hope to reignite a shared passion for justice, equity, and opportunity by building an inclusive and vibrant NAACP that reflects the diverse voices of Pasadena. The future is ours to shape—together.”

Addressing the NAACP membership, Lamar said “Thank you for believing in this vision and for joining me on this journey to build a stronger, more unified Pasadena NAACP.”
