A large hilltop home in the 1400 block of Edgecliff Lane was damaged in a one-alarm fire this morning in the unincorporated foothills area of Pasadena near the Eaton Canyon Golf Course.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department got the call about 12:20 am.

When County fire arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the single story residence.

The Pasadena Fire Department also responded with mutual aid assistance.

The four-bedroom house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac. It is 2,532 square feet in size and is positioned at the edge of a brushy mountain foothill just above New York Drive.

Residents had self-evacuated and were outside attempting to control the blaze with garden hoses.

It took about an hour to knock down the fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
