Live Near the Rose Bowl? Here’s What to Expect on July 4

The Rose Bowl stadium will host a soccer match between LA Galaxy and LAFC on July 4 instead of the traditional AmericaFest firework show. The match is expected to be the highest-attended Major League Soccer game in history, with an estimated 80,000 soccer enthusiasts descending on the stadium.

Councilmember Steve Madison’s office released details of the day’s schedule for local residents living near the stadium to plan around. The influx of fans is expected to bring significant traffic and noise to nearby neighborhoods. The heaviest traffic is anticipated between 3-8 p.m. and 9:30-11 p.m.

Councilmember Madison’s office urged residents to prepare for the impact, saying, “These events will bring the usual impacts on the nearby neighborhoods such as traffic and noise.”

Parking lots will open at 1:30 p.m., with the FanFest commencing at 2:30 p.m. Stadium gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the match will begin at 7:30 p.m. A fireworks display will conclude the event at approximately 9:45 p.m.

The Rose Boel Recreational Loop will be closed from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4, while the Equestrian Loop will remain open. 

The stadium lights will remain on for the event, from the early hours of Monday, July 3, to the early morning of Wednesday, July 5, for safety and security reasons. According to Madison’s office, the lights will be turned off at the earliest possible time.

In addition to the fan noise, residents can expect brief pyrotechnics at about 7:15 p.m. and a 20-minute fireworks display after the game. 

Madison’s office alerted residents to anticipate noise associated with these events.
