All Saints Church will participate in the nationwide “No Kings Day of Action” on Saturday, Oct. 18, joining a nonviolent protest at Pasadena City Hall to advocate for democracy, due process and the rule of law.
The local rally, organized by San Gabriel Foothills Indivisible as part of a nationwide day of nonviolent protest, will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the west steps of City Hall at 100 Garfield Avenue and along Colorado Boulevard. All Saints members and supporters are invited to gather on the church lawn at 12:30 p.m. before walking across the street to join the demonstration. It is expected to draw thousands.
The event is part of a coordinated national movement aimed at ‘defending democratic institutions and promoting civic engagement.’
Organizers spotlight a commitment to peaceful protest and community safety, with trained de-escalation teams working alongside local partners.
Scheduled speakers include U.S. Rep. Judy Chu, State Senator Sasha Renée Pérez, Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo, Dottie Escobedo-Frank, resident bishop of the United Methodist Church California-Pacific Conference, and Sara Sadhwani, Pomona College professor and member of the 2020 California Citizens Redistricting Commission.
All Saints Church cited its parish value of “Courageous Justice” and its baptismal promise to “strive for peace and justice, respecting the dignity of every human being” as guiding principles for its participation. The church also encouraged members to “put our faith into action and join with all those aspiring to make liberty and justice for all not just a pledge we make but a reality we live.”
Organizers request attendees register in advance to assist with planning. Registration and a full list of participating cities are available at www.NoKings.org. For local inquiries, contact Maddie Gavel Briggs at mwriter@greeneggsandham.org or (626) 664-7323.
