Madison Heights Neighborhood Association to Hold Annual Meeting

The Madison Heights Neighborhood Association (MHNA) will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the Allendale School, 1135 S. Euclid Avenue, Pasadena.

The meeting will feature a welcome from MHNA President John Latta, as well as remarks from Mayor Victor Gordo, District 7 Councilmember Jason Lyon, and District 7 PUSD Board Member Yarma Velazquez. MHNA Secretary Glenn Camhi will provide an update on the Landmark District, and the meeting will conclude with an election for MHNA board members.

Refreshments will be served.

The MHNA is a nonprofit organization that was founded in the early 1970s to cultivate a sense of community among Madison Heights residents, preserve and enhance the special character of the neighborhood, and provide a community voice to advise city officials, staff, school personnel, and the community at large about the neighborhood’s events, needs, and concerns.

The MHNA board of directors and officers enthusiastically work to increase the association’s role in advocating for issues that impact residents’ quality of life. The executive director of Pasadena Heritage (and MHNA resident) Sue Mossman has noted that Madison Heights’ central location makes it both very attractive and uniquely vulnerable to impacts tied to development and growth. With this in mind, the MHNA has worked on a number of civic issues impacting the neighborhood, including traffic congestion, parking, and affordable housing.

The MHNA is a valuable resource for Madison Heights residents. The association provides a forum for residents to come together and discuss issues that affect their community, and it works to advocate for the interests of residents with city officials and other decision-makers.
