Oftentimes the good work that any business or organization does is overlooked or misunderstood because their marketing might not be clear. It may seem insignificant, but it can make a huge impact in terms of reaching the largest possible audience.

Options for Learning has been serving children, families, and child care providers since 1981. Once a single program, the highly recognized agency now serves more than 15,000 children annually through eight divisions. The organization recently redesigned its logo and branding to better reflect its mission and message and the people it serves.

With more than 90 locations throughout San Gabriel and Pomona valleys, as well as Northeast Los Angeles, the agency works to help families break the poverty cycle by providing tools to build a positive foundation for school, social and life success. To that end, Options for Learning has created a visual identity that they feel better represents the energy, vibrancy and diversity of those they serve, according to its website.

As Leslie Carmell, director of communications, said earlier this week, “We have eight different programs within our agency: Seven are center-based care programs where parents can take their children. Our programs serve infants to young teens, as well as pregnant mothers and home child care providers,” said Carmell.

Options for Learning offers infant care and half- and full-day preschool programs, as well as before- and after-school programs for school-aged children. While they primarily serve lower-income families, they also accommodate some families on a sliding scale. The agency’s Child Care Services division also provides free child care referrals to families regardless of their income level.

As part of California’s Child Care Initiative Project, Options for Learning also offers a program through which home-based child care providers are recruited and supported throughout the licensing process. The agency also provides ongoing training and resources.

Options for Learning also operates a food program that services both its child care centers and home-based providers. According to Carmell, the program typically provides almost 5 million meals or snacks throughout the year during regular operating conditions.

Celebrating 40 years of serving the community, Options for Learning is excited to unveil its new look and to continue the agency’s important work across the region and the fulfillment of its mission and commitment to those they serve.
