A local man led Pasadena police on a short pursuit Saturday night before crashing the car he was driving and injuring himself.

Officers allegedly found a loaded gun in his car.

Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo said officers were on patrol at Community Arms in the 100 block of East Orange Blvd. when they ran a records check on a car they saw leave the parking lot, shortly after 9 p.m.

The car’s registration was expired, Russo said.

When the officers tried to pull the car over “it accelerated at a high rate of speed northbound on Fair Oaks Ave. And then it made an eastbound turn onto Claremont street,” he said.

“As it went through the stop sign at Raymond at a high rate of speed [it hit] in a dip in the roadway, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and collided with two parked cars”

The driver sustained only minor injuries. Pasadena Fire Dept. paramedics responded to the scene at 9:24 p.m.

When officers searched the car, they discovered a loaded firearm, Russo said.

Russo said 35-year-old Pasadena resident Richard Isham was arrested without further incident.
