The victim, a young man in his twenties, was waiting for a bus in the 300 block of North Lake Avenue at about 11 a.m. when he was approached by a man pushing a bicycle, according to Lt. Domino Scott-Jackson.
The suspect silently walked up to the victim, pulled out a machete, moved in close and touched the victim’s stomach with the machete tip before suddenly stepping back, swinging the machete and cutting the man in his leg, Scott-Jackson said.
The victim received a 4-inch laceration from the attack.
The suspect, who apparently said nothing during the entire incident, retrieved his bicycle and began walking away north on Lake Avenue.
The victim called police. Arriving officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Pasadena Fire Department paramedics responded, treated the man at the scene for the wound, and then transported him to a hospital for further examination.
The suspect is described only as a Black man wearing a black hoodie and pushing a black bicycle. He remains at large.
