Mayoral Candidate Victor Gordo’s campaign rolled out its second commercial on Friday.
“Change” focuses on Gordo’s upbringing, record of service and vision for Pasadena, according to Gordo’s campaign.
“Continuing his unrelenting momentum,” the campaign said in a statement. “Today, Pasadena City Councilmember Victor Gordo released his second television ad, titled “Change,” which tells a personal story of Gordo’s homegrown upbringing in Pasadena, record of public service, and vision for the city as Mayor.”
The ad is running citywide on cable and broadcast television.
Gordo is running to unseat Mayor Terry Tornek on March 3. Local entrepreneur Major Williams and former city commissioner Jason Hardin are also running.
Candidates need more than 50 percent to win in March. If no candidate reaches that benchmark, the top two candidates will square off in November.
The mayoral candidates will next go in front of the voters as part of a District 2 forum at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Longfellow Elementary School. Auditorium, 1065 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena.
On Sunday the Pasadena Community Coalition will host a mayoral forum at 4 p.m. at the historic Friendship Baptist Church, 80 W. Daytona St., Pasadena.
Gordo leads all candidates in fundraising, according to city documents.
He recently earned the endorsement of the United Teachers Association.
Last month, the Gordo campaign rolled out “Bogaard Endorsement.” That spot featured former Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard touting his support of Gordo’s grassroots, people-powered campaign for citywide office.
Gordo appeared in that commercial, but did not speak.
He also released “Standing Up.”
Since initially launching his grassroots-driven and people-powered campaign for Mayor, Gordo has amassed widespread support from hundreds of Pasadena community members, neighborhood leaders as well as from the Pasadena Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 809 and former Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard who is Co-Chairing his campaign, among others,” the commercial states.
