The Public Information Officer of Pasadena, Ann Erdman, announced Wednesday that she will be retiring on March 30 after serving the city for more than 30 years, according to a story in the Pasadena Sun. Erdman has not responded to Pasadena Now’s requests for confirmation.
Erdman started serving as PIO of Pasadena on Jan. 2, 1991 after working as public information officer for Palm Springs.
She was recently treated for a life-threatening condition. The serious ailment did not deter her love for public service and after her recovery she went back to work on Oct. 10.
“It was something that I did not expect but it is truly a life-changing experience. I love my work as PIO, the people of Pasadena and my colleagues,†Erdman told the Pasadena Sun.
The Sun reports that Erdman said after her retirement, she plans to work for non-profit organizations to help them with public relations requirements.
“I have been given a second chance to live and I plan to continue serving the community without the usual pressures from my usual work,†she is quoted as saying.
