The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition has organized a free Metro A Line History Tour scheduled for Saturday, June 14, designed to provide local residents with a fun way to explore the transit system, enjoy scenery, and learn local history through an engaging community experience.
The guided tour will take participants from Pasadena’s Del Mar station to Little Tokyo station in Downtown Los Angeles, combining transportation education with historical context as tour guides explain the history and significance of this railroad along the way.
The all-ages event begins at 10 a.m. in the plaza next to the platform at Del Mar station, located at 260 South Raymond Avenue. Tour guides will lead participants south on the Metro A Line, formerly known as the Gold Line, providing educational commentary throughout the journey.
The comprehensive tour is planned to last 3 hours 30 minutes, with an anticipated return to Pasadena by 1:30 p.m.
Participants will make a few stops along the way, with a designated break in Little Tokyo where attendees will have the opportunity to break away for lunch. Organizers emphasize that lunch will not be provided and participants must purchase or bring their own food.
The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition will provide a limited number of TAP cards with transit fare for participants who do not already possess them, distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Attendees should be aware that paid venue parking is available at Del Mar Station.
Registration for the all-ages event is available through Eventbrite by clicking this link.
The tour is designed to accommodate participants of all ages, though organizers recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes due to the walking components of the experience.
The event represents a collaborative effort by the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition to make transit education accessible to Pasadena residents while highlighting the historical connections between the city and downtown Los Angeles through the Metro rail system.
