[Updated 7:01 a.m.] Â A 4.4 earthquake centered near Westwood was felt in Pasadena at 6:25 a.m. this morning. Minor aftershocks are being felt near the epicenter.
UPDATE: METRO TRAINS DELAYED ON ALL METRO RAIL LINES AS TRACKS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CHECKED FOR DAMAGE DUE TO EARTHQUAKE
The United States Geological Survey reports on its website the temblor was epicentered 9 kilometers north northwest of Westwood. USGS analysis indicates the quake was relatively shallow and occurred only 5 miles below ground level.
The quake was initially reported as 4.7 magnitude but was reduced to 4.4 magnitude shortly after its occurrence.
Pasadena Fire Dept. spokesperson Lisa Derderian says there are no reports of damage in Pasadena at this time.
“A good reminder for everyone to be prepared,” Derderian said.
KABC-TV reports shaking was felt across the Southland, including Santa Monica, Brea, Riverside and Palmdale, and strongly felt at the ABC7 station in Glendale.
