An elderly woman from El Monte and her toddler grandson who were reported missing Sunday morning were found unharmed in Pasadena.
Pasadena Police notified the El Monte Police Department that Ying Wah Tan Jer, 68 years, and her grandson Bryant Tan, 18 months, were at the Pasadena police station at about 8:35 p.m., NBC Los Angeles reported.
No further details are available on how the woman and the child were found or how they got to Pasadena.
El Monte police detective George Fierro said in a statement that Jer took Tan for a walk at about 7:00 a.m. Sunday near their home in the 4400 block of La Madera Avenue.
The parents of the boy became concerned when Jer and the boy did not return after a few hours and started looking for them around the neighborhood, but had failed to locate them, Fierro told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
The parents then reported missing pair to the police. El Monte Police, detectives and local Explorer scouts soon afterwards conducted a search operation for the elderly and the boy, the Tribune reported.
Police also enlisted the help of the public to locate the woman, described as Chinese, with black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet tall and 110 pounds with an 18-month grandson in backpack carrier.
