Most Pasadena City Services Closed for New Year’s Day Holiday

Pasadena City Hall and most municipal services will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2025, in observance of New Year’s Day.

Emergency services will remain operational. The Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will be fully staffed for patrol, jail, fire, paramedic, and other emergency responses. For life-threatening emergencies, residents should call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies, the proper number to call is (626) 744-4241.

The city’s utility services will also have staff on call for emergencies. Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) can be reached for power emergencies at (626) 744-4673 and for water-related issues at (626) 744-4138. PWP customers can still access their accounts and make payments through the automated phone system at (626) 744-4005 or online at PWPweb.com.

Trash collection will be delayed by one day for the week of New Year’s.

Pasadena Transit Route 33 will operate on a Sunday schedule on Jan. 1, while all other routes and Pasadena Dial-A-Ride will not be in service.

Parking regulations will be relaxed for the holiday. Parking meters will be free, and time limits will not be enforced on New Year’s Day. Overnight parking restrictions will be suspended from Tuesday, Dec. 23, through Saturday, Jan. 3, resuming at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4. However, violations for red curb/no parking zones, driveway blocks, and blocking fire hydrants will continue to be enforced.

All branches of the Pasadena Public Library will be closed on Jan. 1. On Friday, Jan. 2, the Hastings, Hill Avenue, La Pintoresca, and San Rafael branch libraries will be open for regular hours, with all other branches resuming their regular schedules on Saturday, Jan. 3.

The City’s Permit Center will be closed on New Year’s Day, but many services will be available online. Recreation and community centers will also be closed, although parks will remain open for public use. The Pasadena Public Health Department’s immunization clinic, cashier services, and vital records public counter will be closed on Jan. 1.

The City Service Center will be closed on Jan. 1, but residents can still submit requests online or through the mobile app. For more information, visit the City of Pasadena online at CityOfPasadena.net.
