Music is an experience that many people take for granted. Thanks to technology, we have thousands of songs at the tips of our fingers and rarely go anywhere without hearing some tunes. With this sea of sound, it’s easy to hear music without really listening.
Luckily, there are still some locations that focus on the listening experience and provide a cozy concert venue.
“[We play] quality music and it needs to be listened to…they enjoy themselves without distractions. I think that’s important, without distractions,” said Bob Stane, the owner of The Coffee Gallery Backstage.
This listening venue makes music the star of the show by serving coffee instead of alcohol and letting guests get personal with performers. Stane describes the atmosphere as a Central American Coffee Warehouse inventive with world-class acoustics and stage lights.
“This is actually a unique situation – it’s a listening room without alcohol and it’s a place where people can come in and really enjoy acoustic music without distractions, without noise, with good sounds and lights, it’s very comfortable,” said Stane.
This listening room hosts acts from around that world and focuses on the over 40 crowd, explained Stane. He explains that the acoustic music world is very tightly knit. “Everything is personality-driven,” he adds.
“There’s a direct line between the audience and the stage, and I would say that the furthest person away from the stage is 14 feet. So they’re right on top of the act. They can literally touch them if they want to, as a matter of fact they can even meet and talk to them after the show,” said Stane.
On January 8th, The Coffee Gallery Backstage will host Streetlight Cadence for the first time and on January 11th; Randy Sparks of the New Christy Minstrels will perform.
