Seven new food and drink businesses that have opened in Pasadena, five since July, will be featured in an economic development report scheduled for City Council committee review Tuesday.

The businesses include two coffee shops, four restaurants and a chai shop at locations along Colorado Boulevard, California Boulevard, Fair Oaks Avenue, Cordova Street and Lake Avenue. The openings are detailed in an Economic Development Update from Economic Development Director David A. Klug.
Milk Brew, a new coffee shop at 263 E. Colorado Blvd., held its grand opening during the weekend of Aug. 1 and 2. The shop specializes in coffee steeped in milk overnight and offers drinks made with ingredients including corn milk and banana milk.

Levant Mediterranean held its grand opening July 8 at 117 W. California Blvd. in the Orangewood Center. The restaurant serves shawarma, falafel and hummus, along with stone-fired and flame-grilled meals.

The Daily Catch, a Sicilian-style seafood restaurant at 927 E. Colorado Blvd., held a ribbon cutting July 16. The city report describes the Pasadena restaurant as the Boston-based company’s first West Coast location.

The restaurant imports fresh seafood from New England to Pasadena several times a week, according to the report.

Mammoth Coffee Roasting Co., a coffee company based in Mammoth Lakes, opened its first franchise location in Pasadena on July 20 at 183 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Suite 40. The shop serves coffee beverages and pastries.

Tierra Caliente soft opened July 24 at 115 E. Colorado Blvd. in Old Town. The restaurant serves Mexican food and occasionally features live mariachi.

Dalah, at 851 Cordova St., is a contemporary Thai restaurant serving lunch and dinner. Its menu includes curries, noodle dishes and mango sticky rice.

Mehfil Co., at 82 S. Lake Ave., is described by the city as Pasadena’s newest chai shop. It serves warm chai, iced teas and lattes.

The seven businesses are included in the “Notable Openings & Successes” section of Klug’s Aug. 18 Economic Development Update, which provides information on market conditions and the Economic Development Division’s activities.

The update is listed as an information-only item on the Aug. 18 agenda for the City Council’s Economic Development and Technology Committee.

The committee is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Council Chamber, Room S249, at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave.
