City officials made the announcement through the Office of the City Manager’s newsletter published Thursday.
The first phase of the project involves the construction of a traffic circle at the intersection of North Hill Avenue and Topeka Street to reduce speeding along the North Hill Avenue corridor.
The project also involves the creation of pedestrian improvements, such as “crosswalk curb extensions to reduce pedestrian crossing times, landscape beautification and street lighting.”
The City’s Public Works Dept. will be managing and inspecting construction activities to minimize any traffic and construction-related impacts to the public, according to the newsletter.
The first phase of the North Hill Avenue Complete Street project is anticipated to be completed in November 2023.
The project includes a second phase consisting of a similar traffic circle to be installed at the intersection of North Hill Avenue and Elizabeth Street.
