A Saturday night fire at a single story home in the 2300 block of Brigden Road in North Pasadena at about 11 p.m. caused an estimated $140,000 in damage and displaced two, the Pasadena Fire Dept. reported today.
No injuries were reported by authorities.
As Pasadena police assisted with traffic control, Pasadena Fire fielded four engines and other equipment to knock down the blaze. A total of 28 Fire Dept. personnel were on the scene. The fire was extinguished at 11:17 p.m.
Investigators determined the cause was accidental.
The home owner had thrown away oil-soaked rags in the trash container next to the house earlier in the day. The fire started in the trash can, ran up the outside of the house, and entered the attic, authorities say.
