Old Pasadena has launched its “Together We Shine” Pride Month campaign to reinforce the message that “All Are Welcome” in the historic downtown District. The initiative builds on community solidarity demonstrated during the early 2025 Eaton Canyon Wildfires response.

“Old Pasadena pledges to continue supporting all forms of diversity and to welcoming everyone equally. We are proud of our diverse community and invite you to experience it,” according to campaign materials.

The  Old Pasadena Management District  said people should “know that as a community we are stronger and more resilient because of the rich cultural and social fabric that binds us together.”

“… we fully recognized how brightly we can shine when we work together and lift each other up,” the District said.

The District’s diverse business community includes establishments dating back to the 1970s, such as Crown City Loan and Jewelry at Colorado Boulevard and Raymond Avenue, and Freddie’s 35er Bar, which proudly holds the title as the best dive bar in Pasadena since 1963.

Visitors can explore cultural heritage through docent-led Pasadena Heritage walking tours and the Melting Pot Food Tasting Tour featuring diverse cuisine and an evening dedicated to Italian fare. Historical sites include Friendship Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. spoke twice and Michael Jackson’s funeral was held.

The Pasadena Museum of History’s “Exploring Pasadena” initiative encourages discovery through varied in-person and virtual offerings throughout the year.

Old Pasadena’s dining scene features 100+ restaurants representing cuisines worldwide, including two authentic Himalayan/Nepalese restaurants and numerous Mexican establishments for “taco crawl” experiences.

Campaign organizers invite community members to “come out and discover our beautiful differences and how they continue evolving” throughout the summer months.
