Temperatures will climb to 91 degrees Sunday in Pasadena, marking the hottest day in a week as a warming trend peaks across the San Gabriel Valley, National Weather Service forecasters said Friday.
Saturday will see temperatures reach 86 degrees before Sunday’s peak.
“This 9-degree warming trend reflects strengthening high pressure aloft and weakening marine layer influence,” according to the weather service’s Los Angeles office.
Friday will feature typical June gloom with patchy fog before 11 a.m. Cloudy skies will gradually clear through mid-morning. Light south-southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph are expected.
Saturday will bring similar morning fog and cloud patterns. Calm winds will shift to southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday will offer mostly sunny skies after morning fog dissipates. Winds will start calm and variable before shifting southwest at 5 to 10 mph by afternoon.
No precipitation is forecast throughout the period. Dry conditions will continue the typical late spring and early summer pattern for Southern California.
A cooling trend will begin Monday with temperatures dropping to around 90 degrees. Tuesday will see further cooling to 86 degrees with morning fog returning.
Wednesday will bring slight warming to 88 degrees. Juneteenth Thursday will feature sunny skies and temperatures around 86 degrees.
The weekend’s warming represents a typical late spring weather pattern for the region.
