Pasadena Braces for a Baking, Temperatures to Approach Triple Digits

Air quality concerns add to heat-related risks for residents

Pasadena will swelter through a week of unrelenting summer heat, with temperatures expected to reach near 100 degrees by midweek, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.

The warm spell continues Sunday with a high near 94 degrees, marking the start of a warm week meteorologists predict will hit above-average temperatures for the area. The July 7 to July 12 period historically averages 86.0° in Pasadena.

The heat is expected to peak on Tuesday and Wednesday, with highs forecasted to reach 98 degrees on both days.

Adding to the weather concerns, an Air Quality Alert has been issued for the area, potentially compounding health risks for sensitive groups.

“Sunny and hot” is the recurring phrase in the forecast, with clear skies expected to dominate throughout the week.

The warmest days are anticipated to be Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nighttime temperatures will provide only modest relief, with lows hovering in the mid-60s. Tuesday night’s low is expected to be around 67 degrees, a trend that continues through much of the week.

According to the NWS, Pasadena’s heat will not reach the extreme levels forecast for other parts of Los Angeles County.

Wind conditions are expected to remain relatively calm throughout the week, with light and variable breezes occasionally reaching 5 to 10 mph, primarily in the evenings and early mornings.

Authorities advise residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and be aware of symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

The consistently high temperatures may lead to increased energy usage as residents rely more heavily on air conditioning.

Pasadena residents are encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbors, particularly the elderly or those with health conditions that may be exacerbated by the heat.
