The Pasadena Civic Auditorium has announced it will be hosting two “industry” award ceremonies presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) next month – the 44th Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on April 28, and the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on April 30.
NATAS announced the Creative Arts Emmy Awards are given to artists who excel in crafts behind American daytime television programming. It honors more than 70 craft categories, including animation, behind the many shows that grace the daytime genre.
“The category of Individual Achievement in Animation is a Juried award,” Brent Stanton, Executive Director of the Daytime Emmy Awards, said in a press release. “A panel of judges composed of qualified animation judges, determine the Emmy Award worthiness of submissions from individuals who work in the various craft areas of expertise in animation, such as Character Design, Storyboard, Art Direction/Production Design, Background Design, Layout and Color and Character Animation. Entrants submit their work from a single episode. There can be one, more than one, or no recipients, depending on the level of excellence.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards, meanwhile, recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during the 2016 calendar year.
“The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is excited to be presenting the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in the historic Pasadena Civic Auditorium,” Bob Mauro, NATAS President, said. “With an outstanding roster of nominees, we are looking forward to an extraordinary celebration honoring the craft and talent that represent the best of Daytime television.”
The magazine LA Eater reports that a number of very famous chefs and restaurants are nominated for the Daytime Emmy’s, including Emeril Lagasse, Ina Garten, Mario Batali, Lidia Bastianich, and Guy Fieri.
