Pasadena Community Foundation and the Welcome Home Fund Support Veterans With Free Admission Day at The Huntington Library

Pasadena Community Foundation announced a special  Veterans Day event at The Huntington to celebrate veterans and active-duty military service  members.

On Friday, Nov. 10, veterans and active-duty military service members can enjoy free admission to The Huntington where they can spend the day for both individual reflection, and cherished moments with loved ones, amidst the serene beauty of The Huntington Gardens.

The free admission extends to one guest per veteran or service member. Tickets will be available at the admission ticket windows on-site, eliminating the need for advance registration.

Generously funded by the Pipia & Ma Welcome Home Fund, a Pasadena Community Foundation initiative, this event is a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who have served and continue to serve the nation.

The Fund started in 2021 through the vision of John Pipia and Betty Ma, whose earlier careers have influenced their passion to give to and to serve others.

Pipia spent several years on active duty with the U.S. Army, including service in Vietnam, and understands the sacrifices that come with military service. Betty Ma, despite a demanding professional schedule as a former inner-city teacher who now is co-owner of a private real estate/advisory investment company, remains committed to her community and is deeply involved in mentoring veterans.

In 2021, the La Cañada Flintridge couple turned to the Pasadena Community Foundation to facilitate the creation of the Pipia/Ma Welcome Home Fund to support various community outreach programs for the well-being and self-care of veterans and active-duty military service members.

Earlier this year, the Pipia/Ma Welcome Home Fund generously supported a free admission event for veterans and active-duty military service members at The Huntington on Memorial Day, May 29. The event drew up to 366 military admissions.

Established in 1953, the Pasadena Community Foundation has been an unwavering presence uniting the community through philanthropy. With a strong commitment to improving lives and making a lasting impact, the Foundation manages over $160 million in charitable assets. Through PCF, individuals, families, and organizations can establish philanthropic funds, create enduring endowment funds, and channel charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations.
