Pasadena Congresswoman Chu Signs Discharge Petition to Reopen Federal Government

Today, Pasadena-area Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA-27) joined Congressional Democrats in signing a discharge petition to bring a clean spending bill up for a vote in the House of Representatives.

“This government shutdown is a self-inflicted wound, and it’s time to end the suffering,” Chu said. “We’ve waited 12 days for Republicans to stop posturing and start governing – 12 days longer than we should have. Hundreds of thousands of federal workers are being denied their sources of income, while millions of Americans are losing out on the services they rely on the government to provide.”

Chu said that by signing a discharge petition, the Congressional Democrats “have done all we can to bring a responsible funding bill up for a vote. Now it is up to each and every Member to do the right thing and join us.”
