A major regional transit project linking Pasadena with North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale and Eagle Rock is scheduled to break ground today, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, according to a Metro statement. The North Hollywood–Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit project will introduce zero-emission electric buses operating in dedicated lanes, creating a new high-capacity transit option for Pasadena riders.
The groundbreaking ceremony is set for 9 a.m. at Glendale City Hall’s Perkins Plaza, 613 E. Broadway. Metro said CEO Stephanie Wiggins is expected to attend, along with Metro Board members Ara Najarian, Kathryn Barger and Tim Sandoval. Glendale Mayor Ardy Kassakhian and Los Angeles City Councilman Adrin Nazarian are also expected.
Metro has described the project as a key corridor improvement intended to reduce travel times and emissions while strengthening connections between the San Fernando Valley and Pasadena.
Once completed, the line is expected to provide Pasadena residents with more reliable service to major job centers and neighboring communities.
