Pasadena Downshifts, Cooler Weather Ahead

Pasadena will see a shift from warm, sunny weather to cooler, wetter conditions beginning Thursday, with rain and possible thunderstorms expected Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. 

Forecasters said Wednesday’s high will reach 81 degrees under clear skies, with light southwest winds. Clouds will increase overnight, with lows around 55. 

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 78. Winds will remain light, but forecasters said cooler air will move in as onshore flow strengthens. By Friday, highs will fall to about 74, with rain likely after 11:00 p.m. and a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight.

Rain will continue Saturday, with highs near 67 and a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms. Forecasters said rainfall totals could average a half inch, with heavier amounts possible under storms. Snow levels in the San Gabriel Mountains may drop to 6,000 feet, bringing several inches of snow at higher elevations. 

Sunday will remain cool, with highs near 66 and scattered showers. Conditions will clear Monday, with sunny skies and highs near 70. Temperatures will rebound further Tuesday, reaching 76. 

The National Weather Service advised residents to prepare for wet roads and possible travel delays during the weekend storm. No advisories were in effect Wednesday morning, but forecasters said updates may be issued if thunderstorms intensify.

Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 55. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. 

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Calm wind becoming west southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. 

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Light south wind becoming south southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. 

Friday Night: A chance of rain and thunderstorms before 11:00 p.m. then rain likely between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2:00 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 70%. 

Saturday: Rain likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 11:00 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67. Chance of precipitation is 60%. 

Saturday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51.

Sunday: A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 66. 

Sunday Night: A slight chance of rain before 11:00 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. 

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 70. 

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 49.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 76.
